A Clear Vision for Wyoming’s Prosperity

As a Platform Republican and experienced legislator, Scott Smith has a concrete plan to protect our tax dollars, secure our permanent funds, and serve the people.

Focus Areas

Safeguarding Our Permanent Funds

The Issue: Wyoming’s Permanent Mineral Trust Fund is the bedrock of our economic stability, providing vital revenue that keeps our state tax-free. It must be guarded against reckless investment strategies.

Scott’s Plan: I will prioritize conservative, long-term capital preservation over high-risk speculation. My focus is to ensure the principal remains untouched and grows steadily, guaranteeing that our children and grandchildren inherit a fiscally sound Wyoming.

Implementing Transparency

The Issue: For too long, state investments and spending have felt like a "black box" to the average taxpayer. You shouldn't have to fight the bureaucracy to see how your own money is being managed.

Scott’s Plan: I will introduce user-friendly, real-time online tracking for state investment portfolios. Every citizen will have clear access to view performance, fees, and allocations because absolute transparency is the best defense against government waste.

Defending Wyoming from Corporate Overreach

The Issue: Out-of-state mega-corporations and radical activists are pushing heavy-handed ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) agendas that directly threaten our core energy and agricultural sectors.

Scott’s Plan: Living by the Code of the West means remembering that some things are not for sale. I will fiercely oppose any investment strategy that penalizes Wyoming's traditional industries, ensuring our capital is never weaponized against our own way of life.

Maximizing Returns With Discipline

The Issue: Every dollar our state funds fail to earn is a dollar that must eventually be made up by the taxpayers or cut from local infrastructure.

Scott’s Plan: Bringing my experience from the House Appropriations Committee, I will work to safely modernize our investment portfolios. By capturing stronger, risk-adjusted returns, we can properly fund our schools and roads without creating a state income tax or burdening Wyoming families.

Streamlining Unclaimed Property

The Issue: The State Treasurer’s Office holds millions of dollars in unclaimed property that belongs to everyday citizens, but navigating the system can be slow and bureaucratic.

Scott’s Plan: I will aggressively modernize and audit the Unclaimed Property Division. By utilizing better technology and proactive community outreach, we will cut through the red tape and return "lost" assets to Wyoming families and small businesses faster than ever before.

Principled, Accountable Governance

The Issue: State government should work efficiently for the taxpayers, not expand the power of unelected bureaucrats.

Scott’s Plan: I am committed to limited government and strict fiscal accountability. I will manage the Treasurer's Office with the exact same grit, integrity, and operational discipline that I bring to my own business and my service in the Wyoming House of Representatives.
